
The launch of the event with be officiated by Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Yang Berhormat Senator Dato’ Sri Ti Lian Ker SSAP., DSAP. DIMP. And Chairman of the Pahang State Human Resources, Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Committee Yang Berhormat Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Haji Mohd Johari bin Haji Hussain, SSAP. DIMP. PPA. This festival has the full support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and Pahang Youth & Sport Exco because it is in line with their goal to dignify sports at an international level.
The main focus of the event would highlight the courageous adrenaline junkies base jumpers who have volunteered to jump down 104 metres from the Skydeck of the tower. The base jumpers will have a total of 65 jumps from multiple jumpers on Merdeka Eve, carrying the Kuantan 188 flag, the Pahang flag and last but not least, the Jalur Gemilang to commemorate 65 years of Malaysia’s Independence. Amongst many of the base jumpers, one to highlight would be Malaysia’s oldest BASE jumper – Encik Jamaluddin Ismail, 67-year-old who is from Mentakab, Pahang.
Majority of participants are from Malaysia with other participating nationalities including from The United States, Singapore and Indonesia. Surrounding this main event Kuantan 188 hosted various less extreme sports such as paintball, drop zone, kickboxing, outdoor zumba, hammock zone, and to name a few that are more family-friendly, Kuantan 188’s Kids Club and Zipline for children are the more welcoming activities for the masses. The festival will also be hosting local brands with a 9-day pop up retail booth to bring awareness to local talent and support local merchandise.
